Frequently Asked Questions

When should I arrange my consultation?

Generally anywhere between four to eighteen months before your wedding day is a good time although I can also accommodate last minute bookings (minimum of six weeks before your wedding day) depending on my workload. I recommend not beginning the process more than eighteen months before your big day as trends change and you may see other ideas along the way.

I plan to lose weight before my big day, will this be a problem?

Not at all, we will initially be working on a cotton calico toile (mock up) of your dress for fitting and the final pattern in your lovely fabric will not be cut until closer to your big day to avoid the need for any major alterations as these can compromise the shape of the dress. Minor alterations will of course be possible, most brides lose weight naturally right before their big day and we will take this into consideration when fitting your gown.

What will happen when I come to meet you?

Your experience with me will me very different from what you may receive inside a any other Bridal Boutique, no dazzling bright lights and champagne reception. Just me, in my cosy studio and some lovely cups of tea! We will sit down and talk through your wedding plans and I will get to know you, what suits you, what you like and dislike, any trends you have in mind etc. You are welcome to try on any styles from my collection but as I mostly offer a bespoke service, I do not have hundreds of samples for you to try on but I do have a mountain of swatches for you to browse through and a pencil at the ready to create YOUR dream dress, entirely from YOUR ideas.

Do I need to bring anything?

For your first consultation . . . just yourself and your ideas (if you have them). If you are anything like me you will have a scrapbook of ideas and hundreds of mood boards and images from the internet – I love to see what you have in mind. These can be forwarded to me to have a look at before your consultation so that I can add to them in preparation for our meeting and be prepared with a selection of fabrics that I think you might like to see. Likewise, if you don’t have a clue where to start I am happy to help!

Should I bring anyone with me?

This is entirely up to you. It may be helpful to have one or two people whose opinion you trust, I would suggest no more than two as everyone will have different opinions and ideas and you may find it distracting and confusing. It is lovely to share the experience with you nearest and dearest but equally some brides prefer to come alone and keep the dress as a surprise for the big day. It really is your choice.

What happens after our meeting?

Once we have met and discussed what you are looking for, I will develop some sketches at different price points within your budget. If you decide to go ahead with any of these a 50% non refundable deposit will be required. I will then order your fabrics and begin work on your bespoke patterns, fully drafted to your own measurements.

What if I change my mind?

It is the nature of bespoke designs that ideas may change slightly along the journey and wherever possible I will be very flexible and will do my best to ensure that this does not have an impact on your costs. If any of the changes will require more fabric or substantially more work then any price increase will be discussed and agreed in advance. Due to the nature of bespoke commissioned work the deposit is non refundable.

Do I need to bring anything for my fittings?

For all fittings please bring the lingerie you plan to wear as this can really alter the shape of the dress. You will also need your shoes for the final fitting.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
